About the Lynx (Lynx Canadensis)

The lynx is the "lone wolf" of the feline family. They are typically found across the northern forests of North America, Europe, and Asia, though they are very, very hard to find. The Lynx hunts at night, using its exceptional hearing and eyesight, avoiding contact with anything other than it's young. Lynxes are carnivores who prefer birds and small mammals like a hare for sustenance.

About the Willow Ptarmigan (Lagopus lagopus)

Found throughout the tundra of North America, the Willow Ptarmigan is a beautiful gamebird that somewhat resembles a chicken. Their winter plumage is striking, with most of their winter plumage turning snow white, which aids in protection from predators during winter months. The chest of the Willow is often a deep auburn red and brown. The face of the willow is typically this same dark auburn or black, with an accent of white over the head, and a striking bright red highlight under each marble eye. During the summer, the willow's plumage almost entirely changes to a light brown, to better blend in with the snowless environment. The Willow is most often distinguished from the Rock Ptarmigan by the lack of black coloration between the eye and beak, as well as slightly larger body size.
