About the Common Pigeon (Columba livia)
This species is originally native to Europe, northern Africa, and western Asia. This species is often grey with 2 black bars on each of its wings. Adult birds are 11-15 inches long and have a wingspan of 24-28 inches. Male birds can be distinguished by the iridescent colors on their necks that are much brighter than that of the female. They can often be found roosting in flocks on sides of buildings and ledges.
