Animal description

About the Fallow Deer (Dama dama)

The Fallow is a species of deer native to Eurasia, though it has been introduced to various locations worldwide. The common fallow sports a chestnut-colored coat with white spots or mottles that appear more prominently in the summer months. Like other deer species, the fallow males have antlers, while the females do not. These antlers differ from traditional western deer species in that they appear broader, with more of a 'shovel' shape, instead of the more widely distributed "spikes" seen in North America.
