Description of Taxidermy For Sale
This is a fantastic replica Red Snapper taxidermy fish mount, measuring 31" long, with a girth of 24.5" and an estimated live weight of over 19.5 lbs. It is posed facing the viewer's left side with an open mouth. The fins, painting and taxidermy work are all in terrific shape, earning our Excellent™ overall quality rating. All applicable dimensions are included to help ensure this item will fit within your intended display space.
- There is already a hanger attached to the back of this item.
- The item will hang on a properly anchored drywall screw.
About the Red Snapper (Lutjanus campechanus)
The Red snapper is native to the reefs of the western Atlantic Ocean. This particular snapper is often found in the ocean's photic zone, meaning it is found in depths to 200 meters below sea level. Red snappers are known to get upwards of 3 feet in length and weigh up to 80 lbs. They have what's known as a spiny dorsal fin which means all the fin segments have a thin bone-like needle giving them structure. Being as they are a piscivore, they have needle-like teeth to catch and hold onto their prey.
