About the Tiger Shark (Galeocerdo cuvier)

The tiger shark is an iconic shark native to tropical and subtropical waters of the western pacific. This shark gets its name from the tiger like stripes on its back and sides. Often referred to as the sea tiger, the sharks stripes give it camoflauge to its prey that is swimming above it. Tiger sharks are known for their aggresive beahvior and their eat anything attitude. Commonly referred to as "garbage eaters" for they have been found to consume floating refuge.
