Animal description

About the Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis)

The Grizzly Bear or Inland Brown Bear is often smaller and more aggressive than the Brown Bear. This is attributed to the lower quality of food that coastal bears feed on fish and seals. Grizzly bears are often limited to berries, grubs, and small rodents, with an occasional larger prey. The term grizzly bear comes from the color of its fur, referring to the grayish coat color on the shoulders and head. Grizzlies specifically live in Alaska's Interior and Arctic regions and down into parts of the lower 48.
