About the Fringe Eared Oryx (Oryx beisa callotis)

The Fringe Eared Oryx is a heavy-built antelope species that can be found throughout the arid grassland and bushland environments of southwest Africa. The most notable features of the gemsbok are its rapier-shaped horns (which can grow to several feet in length) and the distinctly exotic black and white "warpaint" facial markings on its head. The oryx is typically fawn-grey, with a black stripe outlining its white underbelly.
