About the Desert Mule Deer (Odocoileus hemionus crooki)

The Desert Mule Deer is native to the Mojave and Sonoran deserts of Southwestern United States, stretching into northern Mexico. This subspecies of mule deer is a very active forager, feeding with the ever-changing availability of water and forbs. Not only do these deer move with the food they also tend to migrate within the seasons. Observations of populations have noticed a trend in migratory patterns in riparian woodlands in the spring and early summer months followed by late summer migration to the desert mountains flourishing with new growth after monsoon season.
